What Happened
An oil leak from a supply line in Carryduff resulted in an oil spill that impacted the underling groundwater.
The customer reported the incident to Gaea following discovery of of a hydrocarbon odour in their property.
Upon investigation the 1100L tank was also empty.
Investigation
The investigation revealed that the upper soils were heavily impacted, but in addition the underling rock was likely to be impacted. A indedenpent drilling company were brought to site who drilled as many boreholes as were possible and accessible on site in one day. Due to how wet the site was, bringing the sit everywhere would have resulted in widespread destruction of hr customers landscaped gardens.
